(.356 acres) <br />Application: The applicant applied for a variance in 1997 to make improvements to the existing <br />residence. One of the improvements involved covering a porch that encroached into the required <br />side yard setback. The variance was approved. The applicant applied for a building permit within <br />the required one year period, however, the roof design over the porch has changed to alleviate ice <br />dam concerns. Because the roof design has changed from the approved variance, the Building <br />Official has requested that the Planning Commission and City Council confirm that it meets the <br />intent of the approved variance. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: <br />The Planning Commission recommended by a 5 to 0 vote to: <br />Approve the amendment to the variance to allow a change to the roof design. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />To approve the requested design change to retain the previously granted variance. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />To approve or amend the enclosed resolution. <br />r <br />-J
