Orono Code
requires that septic sys emrain ie 'sT locatea at reast
r"L-+'g'I'd streams If-aving only two
acceptable sites for drainfield, the primary site located
directly east of the proposed house, and the alternate site to
the southwest. 0 1 sites must Be preserven for use as as
nr;iginnI :inrl ruLurr. rlr,%infinlrl Thi,; is the only way the City
can allow this lot as a buildable site.
The proposed design requires a curtain drain located 10-15'
away roe e Uoper trenche :)- ear the h=e
to eliminate a L.,Lintial high water table problem. A surface
DATE APPROVED -I-C',{ l/ BY: " • --
water diversion swail above the system would also be prudent to
reduce drainage over the drainfield.
Because the trenches can be no more than 18" deep into the
original soil, and because of the limited area available due to
sethack requirements, the final house elevation may dictate that
a pump be used in the system. If this turns out to be the case,
the preferred method would be to pump the basement only and
gravity flow the upper floors. Presuming a basement pump is
needed, the original system should be kept as far uphill as
possible to preserve the lower area for future use.
The well must to located at least 75' from either drainfield
site, hence the acceptable well locations fall in a small area
at the nortwest corner of the lot. Any water line under the
driveway should be placed a minimum of 7' dce with 2" of styro-
foam insulation to eliminate potential freezing problems.
~KEEP ALL TRAFFIC, FILL, GRADING, ETC. OFF OF DRAINFIELD SITES !!!j
