MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 18,2000 <br />(^2604 Narrows Saloon, Continued) <br />Anderst stated he has spent a considerable amount of money to improve his business, which in <br />turn has improved the character of the neighborhood. Anderst commented that some of the <br />other businesses in the area have not taken steps to improve their business. <br />Kluth stated the Planning Commission appreciates the improvements the Applicant has made <br />to the building, but that issues relating to traffic and noise need to be addressed in order to <br />insure that he will continue to be a good neighbor. <br />Hawn stated she would like to see double doors on the front of the building as well. <br />Anderst stated the front door docs have signs requesting the door be kept closed at all times, <br />which has worked fairly well. Anderst stated it would be difficult to install a double-door <br />system on the front of the building. <br />Smith inquired what the Applicant’s hours of business were. <br />Anderst stated the bar is open until 1 ;00 a.m. <br />Hawn inquired when the band would quit. <br />Anderst stated the band quits at 12:45 a m., with all patrons being out of the building by 1:20, <br />Stoddard inquired whether the outdoor seating depicted on the drawing is included in the <br />3,000 square feet. <br />Anderst stated it is not. <br />Hawn noted that issue is not before the Planning Commission tonight. Hawn reiterated she <br />would like to see double doors on both entrances. <br />Stoddard moved, Smith seconded, recommending approval of Application ff2604. Narrows <br />Saloon, 3380 Shoreline Drive, subject to the conditions contained in the September 14, <br />2000 Planner’s Report, with the added condition that the live entertainment will end at <br />12:00 midnight, with the doors of the establishment being closed at 1:00 a.m., and no <br />further expansion of the business without review and approval of the Planning Commission. <br />Kluth inquired when the Applicant has the live entertainment. <br />Anderst stated he has live entertainment on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. <br />VOTE: Ayes 6, Nays 1, Lindquist Opposed. <br />Lindquist indicated in his view the Planning Commission may be putting undue restrictions on <br />his liquor license and that further clarification should be obtained regarding the ordinances that <br />control this business. <br />Hawn stated she W'ould like to withdraw her vote in sup;«. a of this motion and would like to <br />PAGE 20 <br />1 <br />1 <br />a ' ak r.W * I ■ a# AA ’ 1 t I I •iiiiiti I -r
