Wayzata Country Club
Parking Lot Project Narrative
City of Orono CUP Amendment
In April 2022 Wayzata Country Club hired H+U Construction to replace aging and deterioration site
features on the property. The project includes replacement of retaining walls, sidewalks, and the
crumbling parking lot. The project's design is led by our Landscape Architect, Damon Farber and their
Civil Engineer, Rehder & Associates. The goal of this project is to improve the safety and appearance of
our property as well as provide increased parking on our property for events. During certain events, on-
site parking capacity is not adequate and visitors to our property are forced to park off-site and be
shuttled to the site.
We have been in contact with the planning departments from the Cities of Orono and Wayzata
regarding this project because the City's boundaries run through the property. In February the planning
commission from the City of Wayzata approved the project. Also, in February the Minnehaha Creek
Watershed District opted to hand permitting authority to the City of Wayzata because the majority of
this project is located in the City of Wayzata and the work with the City of Orono's limits drains to the
City of Wayzata.
We understand that because this project is a Golf Course it is operating under a CUP within the City of
Orono. The CUP requires an amendment to permit and approve this project. Please consider the
attached information and contact me with any questions.
Thank you,
Joe Uhlhorn
H+U Construction
