Due to mottled soils at a depth of 19 ” in the septic site area, the system will need to be <br />a mound system with 17 ’ of sand under the rockbed at the upslope side. The site in which this system is <br />proposed has a average existing ground slope of 6% and percolation rates ranging from 16-2S.3 MPI. <br />The rock bed size will be 10 feet wide and 60 feet long with the overall dimensions of the mound being <br />87 feet long and 41.5 feet wide. Two 1300 gallon septic tanks and a 1300 gallon pump tank will be <br />required for this septic system. <br />Based on our evaluation there is adequate room on the property for a alternate septic site. The alternate <br />septic system also is shown and designed. This septic site w ill also need to be a mound, it can be used in <br />the event of the primary mound failing <br />Certain precautions will need to be made to protect the area in which the above referenced septic <br />systems are proposed. It is critical that the soil is not disturbed before, during, and after construction of <br />the system. The septic area should be staked off with visible fencing prior to construction. <br />This system should treat the septic effluent effectively if the system is installed properly and is <br />maintained properly. It is recommenced that the septic tanks be pumped every two years. This will <br />reduce the chance of solids reaching the mound system. It is also recommended not to use excessive <br />amounts of chlorine, soaps, and anti-bacterial products which can kill bacteria in the septic tanks, thus <br />causing the system to fail. This bacteria is needed to treat the septic effluent. <br />If you have any questions in regards to this design, I will be happy to answer them.
