ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MINUTES FOR APRIL 17,2000 <br />(#2564 William Dampier, Continued) <br />drainage and landscaping. <br />Dampier stated in his view his neighbor would rather not have the deck removed due to the erosion <br />and water runoff problem that will be created. <br />Stoddard commented he is in favor of the Applicant having a deck, but he would prefer the north <br />side be brought in somewhat to eliminate safety concerns. <br />Hawn recommended the Applicant redesign his deck. Hawn stated she has a concern regarding <br />the size of the pianter system being proposed. <br />Stoddard indicated he is okay with Gaffron’s recommendation on this project <br />Lindquist stated he also is okay with Gaffron's recommendation. <br />Hawn stated she would like to see the amount of mass being proposed reduced rather than <br />increased. Hawn stated in her view It appears the members of the Planning Commission ^uld like <br />to see the deck brought in from the north somewhat, but that the Applicant needs to submit a <br />revised drawing illustrating exactly what is being proposed. <br />Nygard indicated he is in agreement with Gaffron's recommendation. <br />Dampier pointed out if the deck is considered structural coverage, he would not be entitled to have <br />a deck. <br />Hawn stated she would like to see the height of the deck as low as possible, with the planter <br />system being as low as possible as well. <br />Hawn inquired whether the Applicant would like to have his application tabled. <br />Dampier indicated he would like it tabled. <br />There were no public comments regarding this application. <br />Hawn moved, Stoddard seconded, to table Application #2564, William Scott Dampier, <br />3550 Ivy Place, to allow the Applicant time to submit revised plans. VOTE: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />(#6) #2567 WALFRED PROPERTIES, 2380 and 2364 SHADYWOOD ROAD, 3326 NAVARRE <br />LANE AND ADDRESS UNASSIGNED (17-117-23 44 0078), ZONING CODE AMENDMENT, <br />VARIANCES, VACATION AND COMMERCIAL SITE PLAN, 8:33 p.m. - 9:03 p.m. <br />Tom Reinen, Project Architect, and Bob Weigert, Project Engineer, were present on behalf of <br />Walfred Properties. <br />Weinberger stated this application appeared before the Planning Commission at Its March meeting <br />and before the City Council at its April 10th meeting where direction was provided to the Applicant. <br />The Applicants originally were proposing a two story building, with the first floor being a retail <br />Snyder Drug operation and the second floor being clinic use. with 28 underground parking stalls. <br />The City Council provided some direction to the Applicants and requested this matter be reviewed <br />Page 13
