»0 iT ' » <br />Request for Council Action continued <br />Page 2 <br />November 13,2000 <br />Callahan Appeal________________ <br />Because over 2 years have passed since the storm and the entire building requires replacement it is Staff s <br />position a variance would be required to replace the building. <br />Unfortunately the City of Orono does not have any records relating to the condition of the building at the <br />time of the May, 1998 storm. It is not known when the deterioration occurred, since the building has not <br />been in use for more than 2 years. <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS FOR ACTION <br />1.Approve the appeal to permit Staff to issue a building permit based on the procedures established <br />for repairs/replacement to storm damaged structures. Making a finding the building had not <br />extended its useful life at the time of the storm and not more than 75% of the building received <br />damage. <br />2.Deny the appeal based on the condition of building after the May, 1998 storm. (Because a site <br />inspection was not completed after the storm more than 2 years ago the condition of the structure <br />at that time is not known.)
