REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
NOV ^ 3
v^r OHONOc\n
DATE: November 13, 2000
ITEM NO.:
Department Approval:
Name Gregory A. Gappa
Title Director of Public Services
Administrator Reviewed:Agenda Section:
Public Services's Directors Report
Item Description: Replacement of Gasoline Dispensing Pump
The gasoline dispensi^^g pump is not working properly again. We have experienced numerous
problems with ^s pump. This pump, which was installed when the City facilities were
constructed, is not designed to handle the volume of fuel being pumped. This is a lower cost vane
system pump that is designed to pump small quantities of fuel. Because of the operational
problems with this pump, the 2001 Capital Outlay budget includes $3,800 for pump replacement.
We are requesting permission to purchase the pump now. The pump has been repaired enough to
keep it functioning temporally. The most cost effective solution is to replace the pump now before
any more repair costs are incurred. The pump will be replaced with a new pump that is designed
to handle the volume of flow that we are pumping. Quotations were received form two vendors
for this pump replacement
Pump & Meter Service, Hopkins $3,635
Westside Equipment, Medina $3,375
We are recommending purchase of the pump from Westside Equipment.
COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED:
Motion to approve purchase of replacement gasoline dispensing pump from Westside Equipment
Company, Medina Miimesota for $3,375 to be funded from the 200 Capital Outlay Fund with the
appropriate budget adjustment approved.
