¥■ <br />L <br />MINUTES OF THE <br />ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MONDAY, JULY 24,2000 <br />(JAMES ANDERST, Continued) <br />Anderst commented he experiences a number of people parking in the public parking lot that <br />frequent Lord Flctclicrs. <br />Sanseverc inquired what increase in capacity the Applicant is expecting with this additional space. <br />Anderst stated he is not sure at this time. Anderst stated the total square footage of the building <br />is 3,000 square feet. « <br />Sanseverc inquired what the current capacitx’ of the building is. <br />Anderst stated Code allows 15 square feet per person at the present time. Anderst stated he is <br />not aware of what that number is offhand. <br />Kelley stated he is not tiying to be opposed to this project, but that the City needs to be careful <br />about informing the Applicant that he will be required to meet certain conditions as part of this <br />project. Kelley inquired whether the City Council would be in favor of closing this business down <br />should the Applicant not be able to meet the required conditions. <br />Mayor Jabbour stated in his view the City Council should not take that position since the City <br />did issue a building permit to the Applicant and did not inform the Applicant that he needed to <br />obtain a conditional use permit. <br />Flint commented in his opinion it has been made clear to the Applicant that he will be required <br />to comply with certain conditions as part of this project. <br />Anderst requested he be allowed to keep the live entertainment. <br />Mavor Jabbour commented that will need to be discussed further. Jabbour noted he has reecived# <br />calls in support of the improvements from the residents in the area. <br />VOTE ON ABON'E MOTION: Ayes 5, Nays 0. <br />OR/COUNCIL REPORT <br />Mayor JabbourTtotc^e will be meeting with the County Commissioners regarding the Dakota Rail <br />to Trail project this \\^ck^ <br />Mayor Jabbour stated the issues relatmgsct^rrows Dock have not been resolved. Jabbour <br />indicated he has discussed this matter with afStwof^hc residents of this area who have expressed <br />dissatisfaction with the parking. Jabbour stated a conSbnsqswas reached with the neighbors that <br />this was primarily a personal matter and that the City should'^tohq^' not be involved. Jabbour <br />stated he suggested a meeting be held w ith all the owners of the doeCSTo^n^o obtain first rights <br />of refusal for the purchase of the dock lots by the ow ners of adjacent propertK <br />Mayor Jabbour stated the issue relating to the additional water patrol was not meeting with <br />Page 9
