The property has been used as an Arts <br />Center since 1978. Prior to being an Arts Center the building had been used as an elementary school <br />since its construction in 1950. <br />The Minnetonka Center for the Arts has stated they need a new building for several reasons. The <br />enrollment and attendance have steadily increased over the past several years. The existing building <br />has 22.000 usable square feet. The newbuilding would have about 30,000 square feet of usable area. <br />They have also stated the existing building has structural problems with the foundation and the roof, <br />?iid the mechanical systems are out of date.
