t-A RESOLUTION RELATING TO <br />PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON <br />NORTH SHORE DRIVE (COUNTY ROAD 51) <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal organization existing under the laws <br />of the State of Minnesota, hereinafter called the “City”; and <br />WHEREAS, Hennepin County has jurisdiction over County Road 51, also known <br />as North Shore Drive; and <br />WHEREAS, the City and Hennepin County have concerns regarding traffic safety <br />and boater safety, in the Noerenberg Channel, caused by vehicles with trailers parking along County <br />Road 51 between the Noerenberg Bridge and County Road 84 (also known as Old Crystal Bay <br />Road); and <br />WHEREAS, this parking of vehicles with trailers is the result of overflow from the <br />Maxwell Bay boat landing; and <br />WHEREAS, boats are being launched at the Maxwell Bay boat landing, and when <br />the parking lot is full, vehicles with trailers are parking between the Noerenberg Bridge and County <br />Road 84. All of the other roads in the vicinity of the landing are posted “No Parking”, therefore this <br />is the closest available parking; and <br />WHEREAS, this parking is creating a traffic safety and boating safety hazard as <br />boaters are picking up the vehicle driveis in the Noerenberg Channel at the County Road 51 bridge. <br />In order to pick up the vehicle drivers on the east channel bank, the southbound boaters are crossing <br />the channel and conflicting with northbound boaters in the channel creating a safety hazard. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS THEREBY RESOLVED, that the City requests that <br />Hennepin County install and maintain "No Parking Vehicles with Trailers Tow Away Zone"signs <br />on both sides ofNorth Shore Drive (County Road 51), between Noerenberg Bridge and County Road <br />84 (also known as Old Crystal Bay Road). <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />A-uj
