Kelley commented there is a problem with people rafting within 30 feet of the shoreline, with a couple of the residents in this area requesting additional patrol. Mayor Jabbour stated the LMCD did approve the additional water patrol concept but that there is an issue relating to the funding and that the LMCD has elected not to make this a top priority at this time. Kelley expressed concern that this matter is not being pursued more actively in light of the fact that all the cities have indicated that additional water patrol is needed. Mayor Jabbour commented this is an issue that needs to be discussed at the time the City's budget is being prepared. Sanscverc stated that perhaps the City should consider installing no trailer parking signs on Northshore Drive cast of the Nocrenburg Channel to limit parking. Sanseverc commented there is also a problem with vehicles waiting to get their boats out of the water as well as the number of vehicles with trailers being parked in this area. Mayor Jabbour commented that there is also a lack of courtesy being sho\\ n on the part of the drivers and that access to this dock mav need to be limited. It was the consensus of the City Council to erect no trailer parking signs in the area of Noerenburg Park. Jabbour moved, Snnsevere seconded, to direct City Staff to request Hennepin C’onnty to erect no car trailer parking signs along County Road 51 in the area of Noerenburg Park, and that parking will be prohibited along County Road 51 all the way to Highway 84. VOTE: Aye«5, NaysO. Mayor Jabbour indicated this action is being taken out of concerns for public safety. Sanscverc inquired whether the police department will be notified of this action. Moorsc stated the police department will be notified first of the change in parking for this area. Mayor Jabbour indicated he has S|K>kcn with the Community Education coordinator as part of the Chamber luncheon that he recently attended. Jabbour indicated he informed the coordinator of the discussion held at the City Council workshop regarding the activities held within the City and the local parks. Jabbour stated as the population in this area and Independence increases, there w ill be an increase in the use of the local parks, w hich needs to be considered. Kelley eommented once the new Highway 12 is completed, there w ill be an increase in population and that steps will need to be taken on how to accommodate that added growth. Flint commented that the City of Independence was looking at changing its ordinance regarding the amount of livestock and horses allowed per acre. Page 10
