"Septic Tan k" ■ Any watertight, covered receptacle designed and const ructed to <br />receive th e discharge of sewage from a building sewer, separate solids from liquid, digest organic <br />matter, store septage thr ough a period of deten tion and to allow clarified liquids to discha rge for <br />farth er treatment ht an oth er septic tank or to a soil treatmen t system. <br />18. "Sewage" ■ Any water carried domestic waste, exclusive of footing and roof <br />drainage, from any dwelling er oth er structure. Domestic waste inclu des liquid waste produced by <br />toilets, ba thing, culinary operations, and th e floor drains associated with these sources and <br />specifically excludes animal waste and commercial or indus trial waste water. <br />t7 20. ''Standard System" - An ind ividual on»site sewage treatment system ISTS <br />employing a building sewer, sewage tanks, and the soil treatment system, consisting of trenches, at- <br />grades, or mounds which are constructed on original soil which has a percolation rate equal to or <br />faster than 120 minutes per inch and is constructed according to MPCA Minnesota Rules Chapter <br />7080 and City of Orono codes. <br />1 9. "Site Cvaluator/System Designer" ■ A person licensed unde r the provisions of th e <br />City Code- <br />to engage in th e busin ess of sewage treatment system site evaluation and design. <br />20. "Soil Treatment Area" ■ That area of trench or b ed b ottom which is in direct <br />con tact with th e drainfield rock of the soil treatment system, and for mounds, that area to th e edges <br />of the required abs orption width and exten ding five fiset beyond the ends of th e rock layer. <br />21. "Structure" > Anything which is built, constructed or erected, an edifice or <br />building of any kind, or any piece of work artificially built up or composed of parts joined together <br />in some definite manner, which requires a location on, below or above the ground. <br />22. "Treatment" -The purification of raw sewage by the removal or neutralization <br />of pollutants through separation, bacteriological processes, biological and physical filtration, and <br />gasification. <br />Subd. 3. Terms Not Defined Herein. Words and terms not defined herein shall have <br />those meanings as set forth in the Zoning Chapter as amended, the Subdivision Chapter as amended, <br />and MPCA Regulations Minnesota Rules Chapter 7080. <br />Source: Ordinance No. 210 Effective Date: 5-4-78 <br />Subd. 4.
