Try the <br />OS.iSGifiedj <br />Archives <br />Search <br />Monday 7 faptember 1998 <br />Dog attack sends man to <br />hospital <br />Vicious animal attacks two men, kills <br />Sheltie near balloon festival <br />Jake Rupert <br />The Ottawa Citizen <br />A pitbull/Rottweiler crossbreed dog that attacked and killed a <br />Sheltie before attacking two men, is scheduled to be killed this <br />week. <br />The incident happened in the backyard of 103 Jacques Cartier <br />St. in Gatineau at about 11 p.m. Saturday. The area faces the <br />park where the hot air ballon festival is taking place, and several <br />people had gathered there to watch the festival's fireworks. <br />One man was injured while trying to rescue the Sheltie and had <br />to be taken to the Gatineau hospital whore doctors operated to <br />repair several gashes and ligament damage. He is still there and <br />is listed in stable condition. <br />Several people witnessed the attack, and police were ca'Ied to <br />deal with the animal. Police say after several minutes of trying to <br />corral the dog, which was trying to bite officers, the animal was <br />finally cornered. The Gatineau Humane Society picked it up and <br />took it to the pound, where it was to remain until being destroyed. <br />After the dog was caught, police determined the dog was owned <br />1 of2 <br />3/25/00 8:47 AM
