CRUISER’S COVE PUBUC HEARING MEMO, 2/18/00, PAGE 2
Hennepin County officials. The intent is to place the number of buoys in the area that is needed to properly
highlight these public safety lanes.
RELATED COSTS
•The MN DNR has agreed to buy the 50 buoys. Including tax and delivery, for this project It is estimated that the
total cost of these buoys, excluding chain and clevis, is approximately $10,000. These buoys have been ordered
bytheMNONR.
The additional costs for chain and clevis for these buoys have been estimated at $1.000. Other related costs for
this project include the placement removal, and cleaning of these buoys each season. Hennepin County
Environmental Services has stated they have not budgeted for this in 2000 and that they would like the ^ard to
consider $5,000 for these expenses, with the condition that they recommend for funding in future years.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
•LMCD Attorney Chartie LeFevere has prepared the attached draft ordinance amendment for this project The
purpose of the ordinance amendment is to assist the Water Patrol in its enforcement by not allowing anchoring
within or obstructing the entrances of these public safety lanes. Without an ordinance, the Water Patrol would
not be able to issue citations for violators.
•Attached is correspondence received from a number of public agencies and establishments that have stated their
position on the proposed project
L.
