Date:January 26,2000
To:Ron Moorse, City Administrator
From: Gary Cheswick, Chief of Polic
Subject: Request for Stop Sign
In response to the request for stop sign at Shevlin Drive and Willow Drive, the
following are reasons the Police Department does not support posting of
additional stop signs.
At the above location, the total number of vehicles on Willov/ Drive, in a 24 hour
test survey, are extremely minimal, totalling 233, with a 50 percentile at 28 mph,
and 85 percentile at 33 mph. This is seven miles per hour under the posted speed
limit.
The Shevlin Drive intersection has already a stop sign posted at Willow Drive
with additional stop signs serving no purpose.
Finally, a stop sign would impact normal traffic flow as well as providing
opportunity for rear end collisions.
1
^ mil 111— iii Piiilf P h i ~>lfT Win >
