V <br />. <br />TO: <br />FROM: <br />Mayor and City Council <br />DATE: <br />Ron Moorse, City Administrator <br />February 11,2000 <br />SUBJECT: Long Lake Fire Station Planning Committee Update <br />00^/c;/ McpTiMQ <br />Feb 1 4 2000 <br />The Long Lake Fire Station Planning Committee; which includes the Long Lake City Administrator, <br />a Long Lake City Council Member, the Long Lake Fire Chief and other Fire Department <br />representatives, the Orono City Administrator, and Orono Council Members Charlie Kelley and <br />Barbara Peterson; interviewed three firms for the provision of architectural services regarding the <br />design and siting of the new fire station. The three firms were SEH, TKDA, and BKPV. <br />The Committee is recommending the firm of BKPV (Boorman, Kroos, Pfister, Vogel) be selected. <br />The reconunendation is based on the firm’s extensive experience in the design of fire stations and <br />positive feedback from cities with new fire stations designed by BKPV. The key staff responsible <br />for the project will be David Kroos and Paul Mickelberg. <br />Council Members Kelley and Peterson can update the Council regarding the Committee ’s <br />recommendation at the February 14 Council meeting. <br />1
