Dear Mr. Morris: .A.t the last City Council meeting when the Council granted pi*eliminaiy plat approval for the above community, there was discussion surrounding the requirement that we extend city water to the site. It was my general impression from the discussions that while we objected to this requirement and the Council acknowledged that tliis was not their general polic>', the Council did believe that there was a public safet>' benefit in making this requirement. I suggested at that time that I did not believe it was fair that we bo roqxiirod to be eolelj' responsible for the cost of: (i) bringing water to the site and (ii) over sizing the system so that it can service other properties. In response city staff indicated that they thought a location to connect to the water system could be located witliin fifty feet of our propert5^ Further, the Council suggested that prior to approving the formal written resolution next Monday night, I was ftee to provide a more formal cost estimate and that they would consider some assistance for tho.se over sizing costs th.sf. are required to benefit other properties. Since that Council meeting I have had our engineer prepare specific cost estimates for installing water at this site. I would like to briefly summarize those costa. As part of hia work you will note he has determined that the nearest source of water is in fact aypro.ximately 800 feet from our western propertj* hne.
