r
January 19, 1978
Mr. Hank Muhich
Building & Zoning Director
City of Orono
P.O. Box 66
Crystal Bay, Minnesota 55323
Dear Mr. Muhich:
545 Indian Mound
Wayzata, Minnesota 55391
(612) 473-4224
i
JAPE 2u ly,u
VILLAGE OF9 OBOU0
We have located on the accompanying map the percolation test
holes for both the May and the December, 1977 test on the
Fred Broling property.
As you can see, the test holes are very close together and
the difference in percolation rates recorded between Ma.
December should not have occurred.
As agreed with Mr. Olson of Bonestroo and Associates, we
have retested the percolation rates for the December, 1978
alternate field.
The test results recorded on January 18, 1978 for the alternate
field were the same as those recorded in December, with an
average percolation rate of 17.1 minutes/inch.
The only explanation for the higher rates recorded during May,
1977 at 78 minutes/inch is that the percolation test holes
did not penetrate the B Horizon of the Hayden soil.
I hope that this clarifies the matter and expedites the Fred
Broling request for a building permit.
Sincerely,
EUGENE A. HICKOK AND ASSOCIATES
Marcus C. Hannaman
Soils Scientist
MCH/cml
Enclosure
cc: F. Broling
J. Olson
