Tom Jacobs
City of Orono
P.O. Box 66
Crystal Bay,
Subject:
Dear Tom:
rCOMBS-KNUTSON ASSOCIATES, INC.
CONSULTING ENGINEERS ■ LAND SURVEYORS ■ SITE PLANNERS
NOW E
December 19, 1977 DEC 20 13;1
VILLAGE 06 ORvHa
Minnesota 55323
Septic System Review for Fred W. Brolinq
Tract D, R.L.S. 1275, Plat 43152, Parcel 4000
As per your request of December 16, 1977, we have reviewed
the subject septic system application.
The applicant proposes to install a standard septic
system consisting of two 1000 -gallon septic tanks, a 250-qallon
dosing tank, 1463 S.F. of drainfield area (366 lineal feet x 4 ft.
wide trench) and four drop boxes. Percolation rates averaqed
78 mpi at the primary site and over 120 mpi at the secondary
site. The lot size is approximately two acres, which is the
minimum lot size for an on-site disposal system.
We recommend that the application not be approved for the
following reasons:
1. The percolation rate of 78 mpi is slower than the
minimum allowable rate of 60 mpi for a standard system. An
alternate system or site must be selected.
2. The applicant proposes a trench bed with a four ft.
width which is in excess of the 3 ft. maximum stated in Orono's code.
3. The alternate site ha.3 a percolation rate slower than
120 mpi. A mound system is proposed for this site, but the
code requires that the substratum for a mound system shall have
a percolation rate faster than 120 mpi. Therefore, the alternate
site is unacceptable and a new alternate site must be selected.
If the applicant should submit a new proposal, we request
information on the number of bedrooms in the proposed house,
the basement elevation of the proposed house, and the contours
x IneA S - 7 O'e o
12805 OLSON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY, MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA 55441 TELEPHONE (612) 559-3700
22 NORTH MAIN STREET, HUTCHINSON, MINNESOTA 55350 TELEPHONE (612) 879-8029
SOUTHWEST ENGINEERING DIVISION, MARSHALL, MINNESOTA 56258 TELEPHONE (507) 532.5820
