VILLAGE OF 0»^ONO <br />MINUTES OF THE RE(^ULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING CO^fmSSION, VILLAGE OF <br />ORONO, MAY 20. 1968 <br />Chairman D. J. Russell called the meeting <br />to order at 7:30 P. M. Members piesent <br />were Rice and two members of the Village <br />Courcil. Franzel and Searles. Absent were <br />Bartig, Dongoske, McCarthy, and Nicholls. <br />Mayor Ross, and Councilman Butterfield <br />and Stubbs. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />PUBLIC HEARING; Zoning Ordinance <br />A Public Hearing was held on the amending <br />of the Zoning Ordinance to allow double <br />dwellings on a conditional use permit in <br />a residential zone abutting a B-1 Commercial <br />Zone, provided the area was serviced by <br />sewer. James Dutcber was the only person <br />to appear. Not being a resident of Orono, <br />he merely offered a few suggestions of <br />what was being done in other areas. <br />Councilman Searles raised the question of <br />how many tiers of homes should he allowed, <br />if some of the properties were of large <br />size. Councilman Franzel voiced the opinion <br />that there would be only one tier w’aich <br />was concurred upon by Russell and Rice. <br />Discussion was then informally held on lot <br />sizes for the doubles, as to whether the <br />minimum requirements for size in any area <br />CQvered by the ordinance should be met per <br />unit or per double. Since there wasn’t <br />anybody to be heard, the hearing was closed. <br />V <br />It was unanimously decided that these two <br />subjects be given further study. <br />VARIANCE for the purpose of keeping two horses 4C50 Tonkaviow Lane <br />David Muylaert anpeared in his own behalf <br />and showed detailed plats of his and adjacent <br />oroperties, pointing out that with the <br />acception of one parcel, all the adjacent <br />properties were open. He also presented <br />a signed statement from his neighbors <br />stating thev had no objection to his having <br />two horses. Since the variance was asked <br />for because Mr. ’’uylaert did not have the <br />required lot size. Chairman Russell read <br />the ordinances covering stables and horses <br />;<nd explained to Mr. Muylaert the reasoning <br />behind the ordinance.
