•'Tip ' T ' wKik «««r* <br />4 <br />4 ♦ J <br />J <br />m <br />VILLAHE OF ORONO <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE PLANNING CO^PlISSION, VILLAGE OF <br />ORONO, AUGUST 19, 1968 <br />Chairman Russell called the meeting to <br />order at 7:30 P. M. Present were Rice and <br />McCarthy. Councilman Stubbs represented <br />the Council. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />ALLEY VACATION - Russell 6 Keene Avenues PUBLIC HEARING <br />A Public Hearing was opened on the vacation <br />of an alley between Russell and Keene <br />Avenues. Since nobody present wished to <br />be heard, the Public Heannp was closed. <br />McCathy moved. Rice seconded, that the <br />vacatiofi be approved, subject to the VillaRe <br />Engineer's recommendation for utility <br />easements. Motion, Ayes (3) - Nays (0). <br />advertising sign ORDINANCE <br />A Public Hearing was opened on an amendment <br />to the sign ordinance allowing bench <br />iidvertising. The Danielson brothers, <br />owners of U. S. Bench Corporation, wished <br />to be heard. They commented on the various <br />villages who made provision for this <br />advertising; on the size, material, life <br />of the bench; on the type of advertising <br />used. Baird Holker voiced a favorable <br />opinion for this type of advertising. The <br />members studied the Brooklyn Center amendment <br />to their sign ordinance. <br />Rice moved, McCarthy seconded, that we <br />pattern an amendment to our sign ordinance <br />after the Brooklyn Center amendment, '-i^ith <br />added elimination of cigarette advertising <br />and that the fee for the license be set <br />at $8.00 per annum. Motion, Ayes (3) - <br />Nays (0). <br />DIVISION - Stanley Rudd <br />firs. Rudd anpeared in her behalf on the <br />proposed division and combination of her <br />property. <br />McCarthy moved. Rice seconded, that under <br />the present ordinances the division and <br />combination as presented was impossible. <br />Motion, Ayes (3) - Nays (0). <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />~ pi <br />DIVISION <br />yauUiiiiiaCii*
