We endeavored to locate the septic system and met with <br /> limited success. We believe we found one tank, a distribution box, <br /> and some drainfield on the lake side of the house, but we did not <br /> locate a second system which we believe exists west of the house, <br /> serving the upper bath and kitchen. <br /> Neither system is documented in our files as to date of <br /> construction or who did the installation. Neither system has been <br /> uncovered and physically inspected to determine whether maintenance is <br /> necessary at this time. I can tell you that the systern near the <br /> lakeshore is definitely less than the required 75' minimum setback <br /> from the lake, and according to the zoning code will have to be <br /> replaced to a conforming location by January 1, 1988. You have the <br /> option also of abandoning this non-conforming system and replacing <br /> with a new conforming system, or replumbing so that all sewage <br /> generated goes to the existing conforming system, or, you might wish <br /> to construct an outhouse, which is allowed on Big Island. <br /> I will be happy to meet with you on the property this summer to <br /> review the system with you.
