VILLAGE OF OnONO <br />Regular Meeting of the Planning Conunission. <br />^ August 17, 1970 <br />The Planning Commission net on the above <br />elate with the following nembors present: <br />Chairman Russell, Dorn, Elliott, Gasc’i, <br />Absent: Bartig, Dongoske, <br />Nicholls, 0*’lallcy, Poisson, and Schoeniiig. <br />T!io public hearing ordered for the rezonin*t <br />of property of Robert Birkeland, Lots <br />34-45 inclusive, Tonkaview Gardens, Plat <br />34500, was opened. Robert Birkcland <br />representing himself rend the letter <br />he had submitted with his application, stating <br />that he felt most of the lots in tne area <br />wore half-acre or loss, that half-aero <br />lots are desirable lots and that due to <br />assessment costs, larger lots become <br />prohibitive. Gary 17clch, 1214 '/il'»hiirst <br />Trail, presented a petition with 27 <br />signatures of citizens who wished to <br />retain one-acre status in the area. He <br />was of the opinion that smaller lots <br />increase pressures on existing roads <br />and Village services and that precedent <br />) would be started by rezoning this particular <br />parcel. Kullbcrg questioned the size of <br />lots of the people who had signed the <br />petition. The Building Inspector said <br />he would check this over. (There wore 11 <br />signatures over one acre; 7 signatures S <br />to one acre; 9 signatures less h acre). <br />George Rutherford, 4640 Tonka viow Lane, <br />stated that large lots are not always <br />desirable as they often arc not well <br />maintained, weed ridden an'* his case, a <br />through lot. Fred *>orgart, 964 Mildhurst <br />Trail, was against rezoning, stating that <br />the Village had zoned to one acre at the <br />wish of the people years ago. Ho was also <br />against spot rozoning and any situation <br />that would increase boat traffic by making <br />smaller lots on the lake. Henry Rigclhoff, <br />4515 Worth Shore Hrive, said ho was against <br />rezoning because traffic had already bocomc <br />a problem on County Road 119. <br />Russell explained that assessments would be <br />high at which Welch rosnonded that you cannot <br />rezone for monetary reasons alone--tliat <br />esthetics come into the picture also. <br />After the hearing was closed, menbers held <br />discussion on the rozoning. <br />(continued) <br />7:30 P.M. <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />Pozoning - Tonkaview <br />Gardens
