Western Steel has approached the City of Orono because their property in Long <br />Lake is scheduled to be acquired by the City of Long Lake for a new Public Works facility. Western <br />Steel constructs steel framing beams used for construction projects. They are a permitted use in the <br />Industrial District. <br />Western Steel is requesting a conditional use permit to permit permanent ‘‘outside storage" to <br />provide outdoor parking for 6 trailers, 2 trucks, 2 cranes, and 1 boom truck as showTt on the attached <br />site plan. The company employees appro.ximately 80 people. The parking areas would be located <br />along the east and northeast sides of the existing building. <br />Western Steel has proposed to remove the existing chain link fence around the site and replace w ith <br />a new' chain link fence that would enclose the yard. The fence would be setback 75' from the front <br />projKrty line. The fence style they have proposed is a 6' privacy decorative slatted chain link fence. <br />Evergreen trees would be planted between the fence and road.
