MINUTES OF THE ORONO PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Monday, May 21.2€01 <br />(MI-2676 BA WIND CHRISTIAN CHURCH. CONTINUED) <br />Kluth staled he has not done enough research to determine \«hether churches would be appropriate in <br />this district. Kluth slated he would like to table this application in order to give the memt^rs of the <br />Planning Commission and Cit> StafTlime to compare the **R’’ District w iih the D-4 District to insure <br />that they are compatible. <br />Greenicy suggested that if it is approved tonight, they could simply make it subject to the same <br />requirements os the “R" District. <br />Stoddard inquired whether the church has a specific time frame they would like to followr. <br />Heckei stated the church would not be a hindcnince or an obstacle to the neighborhood. Heckel stated <br />they are currently located at the Excelsior Elementary School and they arc losing families because that <br />is not their target area. Heckel staled they would like to relocate back to this area os soon as lliey con <br />since a large number of their parishioners come from this area. <br />(Jaake Berg leaves at 9:52 p.m.) <br />Smith staled due to one of the commissioners leaving, there no longer is a quorum prevent on the <br />Planning Commission, which means this application must be tabled to the June meeting. <br />It was the consensus of the Planning Commission to table this application. <br />Weinberger suggested the Applicants meet w ith City StafT to discuss some of these issues prior to the <br />City Council meeting. <br />Gaffron suggested this application be discussed at the 29* City Council meeting to see whether the <br />Council would be w illir:g to hear this application at their June meeting w ithout a formal <br />recommendation from the Planning Commission. <br />Smith noted a City Council member has been in attendance at tonight’s meeting, and it w ill be clearly <br />communicated to the Council why there is not a formal recommendation on this application. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />(#11) REPORT OF PLANNING COMMISSION REPRESENTATIVES ATTENDING <br />COUNCIL MEETINGS APRIL 23.2MI AND MAY 14.2MI <br />This item was not discussed. <br />(#12) OTHER ISSUES FOR DISCUSSION <br />None <br />PAGE2S
