Council has indicated <br />that the current ordinance provisions may need to be updated and revised. <br />Orono's Current Ordinances <br />Home occupations are an allowed accessory use by current code; that is, they do not need a <br />Conditional Use Permit, and can occur as long as: I) they arc acccssor>- to a permitted principal <br />dwelling use; and 2) they receive an annual license. The standards they must comply with arc <br />brielly summari/ed as follows: <br />a) <br />b) <br />c) <br />d) <br />c) <br />0 <br />g) <br />h) <br />i) <br />j) <br />Must be engaged in only by persons residing in their dwelling; <br />No employed assistant is allowed; <br />Home occupation must be conducted within the principal structure only; <br />Evidence of home occupation cannot be visible from street; <br />No signage allowed other than that allowed in R district; <br />No excessive stock in trade may be stored on premises; <br />No over-the-counter retail sales allowed; <br />Entrance to home occupation must be gained from within principal structure. <br />The use may not adversely affect the character of the uses pennitted in the district in which <br />the home occupation is located; <br />Professionals may use their residence for consultation, emergency treatment or performance <br />of religious rites, but not for the general practice of his profession if such practice will <br />require more than three off-street parking spaces for occupant and visitors. <br />Mi
