K if <br />f <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />Regular Meeting of the Planning Conin»sion, April 14, 1975 <br />The Planning Comnission met on the above date with the <br />following members present: Guthrie, Dunlap, Kallestad, <br />Van Nest, Hake, Hannah, Woolley, McDonald, Pesek - Gasch <br />arrived at 9:45, Atty. Malkerson 9:00 p.m. Hake left <br />at 10:40 p.m. Absent: Curtis <br />IXmlap moved, Woolley seconded that the Minutes of the last <br />meeting be approved as revised. <br />Douglas Lohmar represented himself in a petition to con­ <br />struct a 9* addition in the 75* lake setback zone. He <br />explained he bought the house from the Chases who did not <br />need nuch storage area since there was more property involved. <br />F^ly living dictated further storage of mechanized vehicles. <br />Since the area the addition was being placed on was already <br />blacktopped, he felt he wasn’t increasing hardcover. He also <br />had the okay of his neighbors. Van Nest felt he had excessive <br />driveway. Mr. Ix>hmar stated most of his driveway was on <br />easement and the diagram did not accurately portray the amount <br />of driveway. Muhich explained that while the existing house <br />was all within the 75* setback only 4* of the proposed 9* <br />addition would extend into the required setback of 75 *. It <br />would be impossible to add to the existing structure without <br />extending into the 75* setback requirement. <br />Halw wad, McDonald seconded to approve the variance because <br />thU mu not « wcessive use on the lot and there would be <br />virtually no increase in hardcover as the addition would be <br />wilt over the existing blacktop driveway hardcover area. Van <br />1 tiiere was no excessive use of thelot. Motion, Ayes (9), Nay (0). <br />Ted Pierce and Qjrtis Greenley, the prospective purchaser, <br />represented the owner in a petition to obtain a variance <br />OTi lot area and width. He explained it was unimproved <br />property purcl^sed in 1968 and combined with adjacent pro­ <br />perty to a point \diere there is no fiirther property to pur- <br />(kithrie felt because of the steep terrain there should be <br />some diagrams showing the placement of the house. Mr. <br />Greenley explained that the house would be placed well <br />above the present house to be razed and well out of the 75* <br />lake setback.
