Zoning Administrator DATE: SUBJECT: March 6, 1979 #465 Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 850 North Wayzata Boulevard, Joint Conditional Use Permit WORK SESSION Zoning District - RR-IB (Ordinance No. 34.820) Representatives:Joyce Olson - Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints Inge Cici - Day Care Center The applicant has recently purchased a 7-1/2 acre parcel previously owned by the Peace Lutheran Church. They request a Conditional Use Permit to function as a church. At the same time, the applicant requests a permit to lease the building as a Day Care Center. The center will operate from 6:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Monday through Friday and will serve a maximum of thirty (30) pupils. The age of pupils will range from 2-1/2 to 6 years of age. Some will attend for a full 8-hour day and others will be on half-day schedules. Staff has met with the State Fire Marshall at the site. Mr. Hanley and the Orono Building Inspector will submit individual reports on safety standards to be followed. There appeared to be no serious problems for the applicant agreed to make all the necessary structural changes. I have been in contact with Carla Brown of the Department of Public Welfare. She informed me that Mrs. Cici's application is being reviewed and she foresees no problem. Mrs. Brown awaits final determination by Orono of the Conditional Use Permit. Mrs. Cici will have r- get approval from the Department of Health as the center will serve lunch ?nd snacks. She will report on this at the Planning Commission meeting on the 12th of March. Note the limited number of requirements for nursery schools in our Zoning Code (Ordinance No. 34.021).
