MINNESOTA 55391 • 479-3186 <br />BUUC ▼ DIAMOND <br />APPRAISALS <br />Ms. Jean Mabusth <br />Orono Zoning Administrator <br />Dear Ms. Mabusth, <br />August 13, 1980 <br />This letter is to request a meeting with the Orono Planning <br />Commission in order to present our plans for property located <br />on Highway 12 - previously owned by Phyllis Wheately Foundation. <br />The basic plan is to establish an apple orchard and produce <br />farm on the location, and market the produce from the barn on <br />the property in addition to a customer-pick concept on the <br />farm. <br />Until the orchard is producing, we would bring the apples to <br />our barn from our Fireside I Orchard in Kilkenny, Minnesota. <br />The apples would be marketed in the late summer and fall of <br />each year. <br />The basic concept would be a pick-your-own or sort-your-own <br />apple and garden produce marketing program providing low - - <br />cost produce~to Twin City area residents. He would maintain <br />attractive grounds catering to familys who want to do some <br />of the work*<o help lower their food costs. <br />We want to start this fall with a sort-your-own market and ' <br />provide pick-your-own as soon as the trees bear fruit. <br />• <br />We hope this gives you enough information to schedule a meeting <br />with the planning commission.
