May 19, 1980 <br />#556 <br />Richard Hawkinson <br />4625 West Branch Road <br />Page 3 <br />^55q <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Based on the willingness of the University to monitor the proposed shallow <br />trench system, and following Machmeier and Anderson's design specifications, <br />I recommend we approve the subdivision with the following stipulations: <br />1) Prior to preliminary subdivision approval, the applicant must submit <br />a full soils report indicating soil conditions and designating the location <br />of specific sites for house, driveway, well, primary drainfield, secondary <br />drainfield, and any other proposed improvements on the new lot, and <br />indicating an alternative drainfield site for the existing home. <br />2) We will approve usage of the shallow trench system as experimental, with <br />the applicant agreeing to designate and preserve a secondary drainfield <br />site for future construction of a pressure distribution mound sy’stem should <br />the shallow system fail and if suitable additions or alterations to the <br />primary system prove ineffective. <br />3) Staff will draft an agreement between the owner and the City which will <br />include: <br />a) right of access for monitoring the system. <br />b) specific design considerations to allow for monitoring, <br />future alterations, preservation of alternate site. <br />c) conditions under which we will assume system failure has occurred <br />and alternate system must be installed. <br />4) As in every case, th owner assumes all responsibility for ensuring <br />that an effective sewage treatment system is provided on the lot. <br />Please see the attached letter from Machmeier and Anderson. <br />JS^
