'4n
minutes of the marina committee meeting of march 3, 1982
The Marina Committee met on the above date. The following
members were present: Chairman Hurr, Goetten and Frahm.
Mabusth represented the City staff.
ATTENDANCE
4:30 PM
Mabusth advised the Committee that the Wayzata Yacht Club
had responded to their questions posed at the last meeting
as follows:
WAYZATA YACHT
CLUB
1 -
"1
The club did not operate out of the Big Island facility
last year due to the expenses involved in the building
of their new club house in Wayzata.
2 -The club's Big Island facility does not have sanitary
facilities nor do they plan any for the 1982 season
since 75% of their boats have heads on board.
The Committee asked staff if the other two facilities on
Big Island had sanitary facilities. Staff advised that the
Veteran's Camp did but was not aware if the Minnetonka Power
Squadron had sanitary facilities. Hurr noted that in the
preliminary discussions surrounding the Island moratorium
this year that question such as sanitary facilities on Big
Island will become concerns of the City and that all applicants
involved in non-residential joint use dock applications should
be expected to address this need.
The Committee advised staff to notify the Yacht Club that
next year they will be expected to furnish temporary or
permanent sanitary facilities at Big Island. All joint use
dock applicants that are classified as non-residential
will be expected to address the sanitary needs.
Goetten moved to approve a 1982 joint use dock license for
the Wayzata Yacht Club with the understanding that the club
will be responsible for furnishing sanitary facilities at
the Big Island site for the 1983 season.
Frahm seconded. Vote: Ayes (3), Nays (0).
Tim Mehner represented the Crystal Bay Service. Mehner
advised the Committee that the actual dock length is 99'
and not 115' as proposed in last year's application.
Mabusth asked Mehner to review the construction, signage
and use of the fuel dock. The applicant advised that the
construction phase of the dock was supervised by Tom Jacobs
and that all building code requirements for marine fuel
dock were followed.
CRYSTAL BAY
SERVICE
Mehner advised that they did obtain a deicing permit from
the L.M.C.D. for the new, permanent dock.
Vending machines at the station issued only cigarettes,
soda pop and candy and that they do not plan on getting
into the bait and tackle business as proposed in 1981
license.
