The amount budgeted for soil correction
is $260,000. Although the bid is substantially below the budgeted amount, the actual cost could
exceed the bid amount if the condition of the soils is found to be worse than indicated by the soil
borings.
Because the permitting process for the soil correction work through the Minnehaha Creek >\*atershed
District has an uncertain Umeline. staff recommends the Council delay the award of the bid and the
authorization of contract execution until the required permits ore received from the MCWD. The
MCWD may take action to approve a permit at its December 13 meeting. Becuuse the Council does
not have another regular meeting scheduled in December; in order to expedite Council approval
subsequent to the MCWD approval, staff requests the Council be availuble to approve the award of
the bid and execution of the contract through a polling of the Council members by the City
Administrator.
COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED:
No action required.
