Plaoie review the atiached Planning Report/or background <br />information on se\*er antiseptic issues on the property. <br />The property owner hired Robert Koch, of Koch's Soil Testing - Lorelto, MN. to complete soil <br />testing and design fora septic system. The tests and design work show that the property can support <br />a nmimum three bedroom system. The proposed house was proposed to be a five bedroom home. <br />Malt Bolterman. On-Site Systems Manager, has approved the design, but for a house with three <br />bedrooms or less. Mr. Boltcrman’s memo is attached. <br />State Code requires that the number of bedrooms in a single family residence be used to determine <br />the required system capacity. <br />Staff RcconiieBdation <br />To approve the variance application subject to the property owner submitting final architectural plans <br />convening two of the five proposed bedrooms into another use. The e.xisting non-compliant septic s>stem <br />would be required to be abandoned per state and local requirements and the new three bedroom s>stem <br />installed prior to occupancy of the new house. <br />Any change to the layout of the house or exterior plan would require a new variance application. <br />COl NCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Nloiiun to adopt the resolution approv ing variances to permit construction ofa new residence on the property.
