There arc several properties, at the bottom of the hill, that have substantial amounts of <br />water draining across them. Part of the problem is that several of the properties and driveways <br />along Caroline Avenue have been graded so as to not allow any drainage from the street onto <br />these properties. The result of these modifications is that the water is directed further downhUl, <br />so the last several pro|x .ties end up vritb additional drainage across their properties. <br />The platted City Right of Way for Caroline Avenue is 40 feet wide and is shown on the attached <br />survey of your property. The City U planning a project to use the lawn ^ in the right of way to <br />slow down and capture some of the street drainage. We will be excavating a trench <br />approximately four feet deep and filling this with drainage rock. The surface will then be restored <br />to a shallow swale with topsoil and grass. This will provide an area for the drainage to infiltrate <br />into the ground and should reduce the amount of water that flows toward the properties further <br />downhUl. The area behind the swale will be higher, so if the swale overflows the water will be <br />directed back toward the road.
