Overall, he preferred flexibility and letting citizens police each other. <br />I le approved of the suifl' recommendations. <br />Sonsevere stated he is concerned that a boat too big to trailer could be improperly blocked <br />and topple, injuring someone or damaging property. GalTron stated that there are no <br />requirements regarding blocking, but the City could require blocks be inspected. <br />Rich Anderson of 3205 Crystal Bay Road stated that usually the ma.ximum size of a <br />trnilcred boat is 27’. lie owns North Shore Marina and stated even he would not approve <br />someone ’s blocking becau.se the ground changes with the spring thaw and .something <br />secure in winter could fail in the spring. <br />Gar>' Welsh of 1214 Wildhurst Trail stated that boat owners would typically be caraful <br />about blocking their boats because of the expense of the boat. <br />Sansevere stated there was no ready answer to the safety concern. Flint suggested they <br />research other cities' solutions. <br />Nygard stated that white shrink-wrap is detrimental to boats because it docs not encourage <br />the snow to melt. He felt the maximum boat size allowed should be 36'. lie did not agree <br />with the grandfathering clause, and felt that boats over 36 ’ should be considered on a case <br />by case basis depending on the owner's lot size, neighbors, etc. He also did not agree <br />with having separate standards for lakeshore and non-lakeshorc lots. Nygard stated that <br />yard setbacks arc for pennanent structures and if a boat is hidden from sight os much os <br />possible, the setback shouldn't matter. <br />3\Tiite stated he liked the 36' maximum length, and approved of the grandfathering clause. <br />He took issue with the setback requirement because of the irregular lot sizes. He also <br />liked the dispute resolution committee, and would like to consider Minnetonka's <br />ordinance in the future. WTiitc also stated the staff hod done an excellent job.
