1 <br />•••••***Kc,nenbcr that Monday*s Meeting Begins at 6:00 p.m., aoi 6:30******^** <br />To: Chair Smilh & Planning Commissioners <br />From: Mike Gaflron, Planning Director <br />Dale: April 16,2003 <br />SabJccI: Various Topics of Current Importance <br />Here's an update on various things that arc happening... <br />1) Dave Rahn has been reappointed to an additional 3-year tenn as Planning Commissioner. <br />Stephanie Zugschweit hu been appointed to a 3-year term as Plauming Contmissioner. <br />Jan Berg has been appointed as an Ahemate Planning Commissioner. <br />We likely will advertise this summer for additional Alternate candidates. <br />2) Next Scheduled Work Session is Wednesday, May 7,5:30 p.io. in the Council Chambers. <br />Topics for diKUSsion will include the following: <br />✓ Review draA language for Nonconforming Structures amendment to Nonconforming <br />Uses section (10.03 Subd. S); establishes threshold standards/limits for how far <br />removals can proceed before full conformity is required... <br />✓ Building height and massing amendment - review your discussion of April 3: <br />• No strong support for aggregate side setbacks... <br />- OK with idea of greater setback for greater height; reduced floor area ratio (FAR) <br />for buildings that have more than 1-1/2 stories... <br />• OK with idea of establish a maximum peak height in addition to meeting height <br />definition... <br />- OK to consider changing height measurement definitions... <br />- Need to add something relating house height to lot width... <br />- Tools need to apply only to small lots, may be too restrictive for 3-acrc or larger <br />lots... <br />✓ Council has directed that staff do a study of existing lakeshore lot widths in 2-acro zone; <br />the issue is whether there w ill be a significant impact if code is changed to allow <br />lesser setbacks for existing narrower lots in the 2-acre zone... <br />✓ Do you really want to proceed with changes to fence ordinance??????????? <br />✓ Other topics of interest <br />3) Please return your Planning & Zoning Workshop registrations to me ASAP if >x>u wish to <br />attend one or more sessions. <br />2003 Meetiag Schedule The following meetings are scheduled for the remainder of2003.
