The existing culvert <br />is quite long, the downstream outlet is undersized and a bend in the <br />alignment requires special considerations such as catch basins and <br />cleanouts. Also, extending the large culvert will require replacement <br />of the existing downstream pipe which work is immediately adjacent to <br />the lakeshore. Consequently, any work will require reviews and permits <br />from the City, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, and the Minnesota <br />Department of Natural Resources. <br />Because of the involved nature of the proposal, the above agencies will <br />require that a qualified engineer design the work and provide adequate <br />plans for review. As this is a private drainage ditch, you would be <br />responsible for providing this engineering as well as for Installation <br />and maintenance of the work. <br />Sincerely, <br />an P.
