r.CITY OF ORONO, MINNESOTA <br />MINUTES OF A PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING HELD ON JUNE 26, 1978 <br />Hie Orono Planning Conmlaalon met on the above <br />date with the following members present: Hurr, <br />acting chairwoman, McDonald, Frahm, Hammerel, <br />and Wilson. Hassel will be late. <br />ATTENDANCE <br />7:30 P.M. <br />Hurr announced this was the time for a public <br />hearing for the Baker Park Reserve Road Vacation <br />application. Alan Olson, the City Planner, <br />stated he had the Affidavit of Publication and <br />Certificate of Mailing. Mr. Marr was present <br />to represent the Park Reserve District. A <br />neighbor, Mr.Laidlaw of 1195 Starkey Road, was <br />present. Mr. Marr showed the exact location <br />of the vacation. During the discussion, Mr. <br />Laidlaw had several comments regarding the <br />bike/hike trail, but did not object to the <br />road vacation. Public Hearing closed at <br />7:50 r.M. Further discussion concerned the <br />possible moving of a gate to the property <br />line of Mr. Laidlaw, but he stated that would <br />not be a problem to him. The only thing <br />that could cause a problem would be people <br />parking their cars at the gate. Wilson <br />recommended approval of the vacation contingent <br />upon the park reserve providing a private ease <br />ment for existing utility lines. Hammerel <br />seconded the motion. Vote: Ayes (4), Nays (0), <br />Abstained (1) McDonald. McDonald did not see <br />the public interest in vacating the road and <br />was concerned that the gate would be moved to <br />Mr. Laidlaw's property line after the road vacation. <br />BAKER PARK RESERVE <br />ROAD VACATION <br />(#386) <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />7:30 P.M. <br />! * J <br />Hurr announced this was the time for a public <br />hearing on the Subdivision for R. L. Wenkstem. <br />A1 Olson stated he had the Affidavit of <br />Publication and Certificate of Mailing. The <br />applicant was represented by Mr. Roger Reed <br />his attorney. Mr. Reed stated that the <br />Owner is making arrangements to connect to <br />the sewer. It was discussed that by this <br />application we would Just be increasing acreage <br />and not establishing a new construction site. <br />No public comments were heard. Public Hearing <br />was closed at 8:07 P.M. Alan Olson stated if <br />approved this could be handled by RLS as it is <br />now recorded. Most of the discussion was regarding <br />whether to have him comply with the two acres or <br />with connection to the sewer. <br />R. L.
