The cupola is proposed to be located within the central <br />portion of the structure. <br />Pertinent Code Section: <br />1. Section 10.75, Subdivision 1: Height: To permit a cupola to be constructed on the roof of a <br />residence to be 34.5 ’ where 30 ’ height is the maximum for the LR-IC zoning district. The code <br />reads as follows: <br />“No structure or building shall exceed 2 '/j stories or thirty feet in height except as provided in <br />Section 10.75. Section 10.75, Subdivision 1: Special Provisions. The height limitations imposed <br />by other provisions of this Chapter may be increased by conditional use permit by 50 per cent <br />when applied to the following structures: <br />A. Church spires <br />B. Belfries <br />C. Cupolas and domes which do not contain usable space. <br />D. Monuments. <br />F.. Water Towers. * <br />F. Fire and hose towers. <br />G. Observation towers. <br />H. Flagpoles. <br />I. Chimneys. <br />J. Smokestacks. <br />K. Parapet walls extending not more than three feet above height of the building. <br />L. Cooling towers. <br />M. Elevator penthouses.” <br />The plans ibr the new residence includes two cupolas. One on the residence and the other on the <br />garage. The cupola on die garage meets the 30’height requirement The cupola on the residence <br />is proposed to be 34.S’ in height and 4 ’ X 4 ’ in size.
