They have reached agreement on a concept that removes
public boat access from the Gray's Bay causeway and the Gray's Bay dam and instead
consolidates it at a new pubiic boat launch at the current Gray's Bay Marina. The plans
are conceptual at this point and win be further refined. The fbllowing summarizes the
concept
New Public Access Site at tha Marina
• Thera would be 112 car/trailer parking stalls to replace current parking (i 7 free
spaces on the causeway, 22 free spaces at the dam. 73 paid spaces at Gr^s Bay
Marina). Four of these would be handicapped stalls.
• 28 boat slips and related parking spots would be provided as a way to fund an
attendant on site. It is proposed that these would be paid for uy the City of
Minnetonka and would be available only to Minnetonka residents based on a system
yet to be determined.
A gas dock might also be included, but this needs to be studied further.
The perking lot would be at a lower level than nearby homes, and the area around
the parking lot would be bermed and landscaped to buffer nearby residences.
The entrance would be designed to prohibit exiting onto Gray's Bay Boulevard and
to discourage entering from any direction other than 101.
The driving aisles in the parking area would be approximately 21 feet wide. This
would provide plenty of room tor vehictes to pass vehicles waiting to launch If the
lurking fUn. the vehicles would then have to exit out onto 101 rather than going
through the neighborhood. *Fuir signs would not be posted on lOlbecause if they
vwre posM. pe^le might then drive through the neighborhood.
