If Orono <br />wishes to designate the use of net profits, this item will need to be addressed in an ordinance. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Conduct Public Hearing to receive conunents on possible options for distribution of proceeds fiom <br />charitable gambling in the City of Orono <br />Discuss approval of the City collecting 10% of the net profits fiom charitable gambling operations <br />in the City to be used for "lawful purposes.” If the Council approves the concept of collecting this <br />fee, staff will prepare an Ordinance that authorizes collection of this fee for approval at a future <br />Council meeting. <br />Discuss City policy on the "lawful purpose expenditures ” that the 10% fee could be used to fund. <br />Discuss approval of defining a "trade area" in which the organization conducting the charitable <br />gambling operations must expend the net profits.
