At their August 12'*' meeting, the City Council moved to ap(ut>ve the PUD concept plan and
rezoning for this project, subject to several conditions that required us to continue to work with
the City to resolve the outstanding issues. The Council direct^ staff to prqmre a resolution for
adoption on August 26*^. We do not believe there is any reason to further delay City Council
approval of the PUD concept plan and rezoning. We mtend to continue working with the City of
Orono to resolve any outstanding issues between now and submittal of the preliminary plat and
PUD master plan and City Council approval of the PUD concq>t plan in a timely manner is
absolutely critical if we are to move forward with this project.
We have worked with the City for over four months in the hopes of obtaining PUD concept plan
approval and we respectfully request City approval of our PUD concqrt plan and rezoning
request at the August 26'*' meeting. However, we do hearby provide another extension to the 60-
day review period until Sq>tember 9,2002.
I would like to state in closing that we stand ready and committed to work with the City of Orono
to address their concerns regarding the affordability issue, but I ask that you give consideration to
the fact that we do not have all the information that is necessary to address the availability of
affordable fimding programs on housing units that have not been completely designed and may
not be constructed until late 2003 or early 2004. Upon City Council approval of the PUD
concq)t plan, we will be able to obtain financing and move forward with the design details and
respond to all of the City of Orono concerns.
Sincerely,
f Terry P.
