The tennis court will be located southeast of their existing home as shown on the
accompanying drawings. They propose to construct the project this year. They contacted the neighbors on
June 24, offering to review the project and have not had any response.
The proposed Tennis Court fits within the available building area of the site bounded by the required City
of Orono setbacks for fiont and sideyards as well as the City of Orono wetland buffer of 26’. The
proposed Tennis Court suifice coverage is allowed under tite hardcover requirements as shown on the
drawings.
A variance from the Mirmehaha Creek Watershed District requirement for a 35 ’ wetland buffer in die
a mount of298 sf of encroachment has been ^>plied for separately and will be beard by the MCWD Board
on 22 August. The 35 ’ wetland buffer is largw than the 26’ wetlimd buffer required by the City a{ Orono.
We are removing areas of heavy Boxelder and Buckthorn growdi as shown on the drawings. No vehicle
traffic will be allowed on the fenced and protected designated septic sites during the excavation and
construction operations. The Tennis Court will be constructed as a bituminous surfime with a concrete curb,
blade chain link fencing and frame and low cutoff type lights mounted at 12’ heights. The total cut and fill
for earth moving on Lot 6 will be 1040 cu yds as shown on the drawings. Approximately 120 cubic yards
of soft, clay sub^ls will be trucked from the site to a proper di^Msal site. Approximately 500 cubic
yards of topsoil will be removed from Lot 6 and placed on the adjacent, undeveloped Lot 5, also owned bv
the Devries. The topsoil fill on Lot 5 will vary from zero to 18”, to correct grade irregularities, cover small
ffUimpt and debris and to eliminate the abrupt, 18” difference in grade from dieir existing driveway on Lot
6 to Lot 5.
The disturbed areas on both sites will be restored with tur^pass seed and mulch. The areas widiin the
required wetland buffer areas will be left to naturalize and will not be mowed.
Please call me at 952*474-3946 with questions and comments.
Sincerely,
Sheets 1 and 2^2; Wetland DelinemioiiRqrort by John Anderson
Ir.
■
