of% <br />m <br />GITYofORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. _______________ <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING <br />THE INSTALLATION OF SIGNS <br />PROHIBITING BOAT TRAILER PARKING <br />IN THE SANDY BEACH NEIGHBORHOOD <br />WHEREAS, the City of Orono is a municipal organization under the laws of the State <br />of Minnesota; and <br />WHEREAS, requests have been received from residents in this area for signs <br />prohibiting boat trailer parking to address problems associated with vehicle and boat trailer parking. <br />This parking is the result of overflow from the Maxwell Bay and North Arm boat landing areas. <br />Problems include safety of children in the area, damage to lawns, trash, noise, and boat docking at the <br />Sandy Beach dock for the loading and unloading of passengers; and <br />WHEREAS, the street widths in this area are substandard for on-street parking of <br />numerous vehicles with trailers; and <br />WHEREAS, the docking of boats at the Sandy Beach dock for the loading and <br />unloading of passengers is creating a safety hazard; and <br />WHEREAS, the County Roads and other City Streets in the vicinity of the North Arm <br />and Maxwell Bay boat landing areas are posted for No Parking thus intensifying the parking problems in <br />the Sandy Beach Neighborhood. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orono City Council does hereby <br />authorize and direct the Orono Public Works Department to install signs indicating "No Parking for <br />Vehicles with Trailers, Tow Away Zone" along Cherry Avenue, Maple Place, and Minnie Avenue, for <br />the entire lengths of these roads. <br />Approved by the Orono City Council at a regular Council meeting held on July 8,2002. <br />ATTEST: <br />Linda S.
