League of Minnesota Cities <br />CONSTITUTION and BYLAWS <br />As amended, June 20002 <br />ARTICLE 1 <br />Name and Purpose <br />Section 1. This organization shall be known as the League of Minnesota Cities and <br />shall be referred to in this document as the League, its purposes shall b e: <br />ARTICLE II <br />Puroose <br />Section I - General. The purpose of the League is to sustain and advance the <br />interests of its members by: <br />A.First Advocacy - To b e Qn -efTective vehicle for the Promote and facilitate <br />d evelopment the development and expression of enlighten ed policies and positions <br />concerning the structure and powers of local government, and other issues of universal or <br />speoifio represent those municipal interests before administrative, leuislative, and judicial <br />bodies at the local, state, and national levels. <br />B.Seeond Training.—Te Ddevelop and providerrcither alone or in concert with other <br />governments, organizations; or groups—reonferences. seminars, workshops, and other <br />training oppoitunities to help municipal officials better fulfill their <br />responsibilities.proerams of-technical assistanc e and train in g-whieh will make available <br />te-mun ietpalities and their employees advanc ed systems, conce pts, and techn iques <br />applicabl e to various aspects of municipal operation s. <br />C,Thifd - Services. Develop and provide services and products for which individual <br />members mav not have adequate resources <br />To foster and promote the di ssemination of information conc erning problems and <br />issues affecting -local governm ent to special int erest groups and to the public at large. <br />D. Information. Fourth—To Eencourage the improvement of all phases <br />of municipal government by stimulating and fostering pertine nt research projeots-by <br />collecting, developing, and providing information and advice on topics and issues <br />affecting local governments, and bv stimulating and fostering pertinent research <br />proiects.advice and bv hold ing convent ions and conf erenc es for the exploration of <br />problems of municipal int erest. <br />E. Facilitator.
