r
THE
LEGACY
Givifin Tlitf Lttkr Minnetunkii Arvu.
Tlx hiacy Foiiidation
BACKGROUND
The history of the Lake Minnetonka -irea is one of small
communities tltat grew and were engulfed by the Twin
Cities metropolitan area. There are multiple |X)litical
boundaries, many of which are overlapping and very
specific in nature. The result is tliat there is no natural
constituency for the area's assets in total. We believe the
time has come for an organization to look at the big
picture, promote bold ideas and help guide them to
completion. The Legacy Foundation was formed as a
means to help accomplish this objective.
VISION
By 2010 create a genuine Lake Minnetonka community
where l(K.al jurisdictions and residents routinely work
together to develop, re-develop and improve the Lake
area's assets.
MISSION
Adopt significant lake area projects that enliance its
livability by providing the leadership, vision and ability to
marshal the diverse resources available. In addition,
coordinate the necessary inter-jurisdictional approvals and
support that are necessary for successful completion of
each endeavor.
A LEGACY FOUNDATION
ENDEAVOR
We have created a cliallenge for the Foundation. One that
is for the benefit of every person in every community that
makes up the immediate Lake Minnetonka Area. That
challenge, is to make sure that every endeavor we create, is
consistent with the heritage of this wonderful area, will
further the preservation of the assets the arra has to offer,
will, in some way, benefit every resident and visitor the
area embraces and in every way be aesthetically pleasing,
environmentally correct, an unequivocal improvement to
the area and be done within a carefully managed budget.
