^mik <br />/? <br />A RESOLUTION FOR REDISTRICTING <br />PRECINCTS 1,3 AND 4 <br />AND REESTABLISHING <br />UNCHANGED PRECINCT POLLING PLACE LOCATIONS <br />FOR PRECINCTS 1,2.3 AND 4 <br />WHEREAS, after completion of legislative rcdistricting in 2002, per Minnesota Statutes <br />204B. 14, Subds. 3 and 4, cities are required to establish precincts with newly changed boundaries <br />by April 30,2002; and <br />WHEREAS, precinct boundary changes may be the cause of changes to legislative or <br />congressional district boundaries, ward boundaries, or as a result of the city’s own initiative; and <br />WHEREAS, the changing of precinct boundaries is knows as “redistricting” precincts; and <br />WHEREAS, after a formal review of existing precinct boundaries, it was determined that <br />administration of the election process would be more efficient if the precinct boundaries were <br />redrawn for Precinct 3 to follow the boundaries of the Mound School District; and <br />WHEREAS, as a result of the City’s own initiative, the precinct boundaries lines will be <br />changed and redrawn as follows: <br />see attached Exhibit A; and <br />WHEREAS, as a result of redrawing the precinct lines for Precinct 3, approximately 260 <br />voters will be moved to Precinct 1 and approximately 40 votei will be moved to Precinct 4; and <br />WHEREAS, the designated polling places in the City of Orono remain the same for the <br />following precincts: <br />Precinct 1 - Minnetonka Center for the Arts <br />Precinct 2 - Freshwater Biological Institute <br />Precinct 3 - Lakeview Golf Club <br />Precinct 4 - Orono Council Chambers <br />Page 1 of2
