(.3 acres) <br />List of Exhibits: <br />A <br />B <br />Resolution <br />Staff Report and E.xhibits of 1/22/2002 <br />Application Summary: The applicants arc requesting after the fact variances to replace a lakeside <br />porch to the same footprint that existed. In 1978 a variance was granted and permits issued to <br />enclose an existing concrete patio to make a porch on the lakeside of the residence. In 2001 it was <br />found that the wood was rotting on the roof, and some maintenance work needed to be done. A <br />permit was obtained from the city. During the process of the maintenance work and roof repair it <br />was found that the floor of the porch was also rotten. This necessitated removing the root and floor <br />of the porch. <br />The location approved by variance in 1978 encroached into the 75' lakeshore setback and into the <br />side yard setback. The plan approved is the same as vs hat is being proposed today. The footprint, <br />hardcover, roof height and lot cov erage by structures arc NOT changing from what existed and was <br />approved in 1978. <br />1. Section 10.24, Subd. 5 (B); Side Yard Setback: The following minimum requirements shall be <br />observed for LR-IB district- 10 feet. Variance Request: To permit a variance to allow the porch to <br />be 2.7' from the side lot line where 10' is required. <br />2. Section 10.03. Subd. 1(B): Average Lakeshore Setback: The average lakeshore setback line <br />shall be a straight line connecting the most lakeward protrusions of the residence buildings on the <br />immediately adjacent lakeshore lots. Variance Request: To pcm.it a variance to encroach 67' into <br />the average lakeshore setback. <br />3. Section 10.22, Subd. 2 and Section 10.56, Subd. I6(L)(1): Hardcover in 0-75': Within 75'of the <br />lakeshore there shall be no hardcover. Variance Request: To permit 297.2 s.f. (7.5%) hardcover <br />where 0 s.f. is allowed. <br />4. Section 10.22. Subd.2 and Section 10.56, Subd. 16(L)(2): Hardcover in 75-250': Within 75-250' <br />of the lakeshore there shall be no greater than 25% hardcover. Variance Request: To permit <br />2,351.67 s.f. (25.6%) hardcover where 2,292.38 s.f. (25%) is allowed. <br />5.
