In December John went to the
National ICAC Conference in New Orleans. Other
opportunities for forensic computer training will be
come available through the task force in the coming
year. So far the departments association with the
task force has benefited the department. Several
computer hard drives have been or are being
searched for evidence of computer crime. Normally
it Is taking six to twelve months to get a hard drive
searched at the BCA because of the back log of
cases. The ultimate goal is to have our own forensic
computer at the OPD in the future. John is also
doing Internet safety classes at the Orono Schools
with future plans to extend this training to the whole
community.
In case someone hasn ’t noticed the Coke in the pop
machine has been replaced by Mountain Dew.
Vehicle registration stickers issued by mail starting
with July 2001 expirations have changed. The
registration number on the new sticker will end with
the six or seven digit license plate number, making
it easier to verify that the correct stickers are
displayed on the correct plates. The old style
stickers are still being issued by the registration
offices around the state with the goal to change
over to the new stickers in the future. The new
sticker is the same color (Gold for 2002). Displayed
in bold in the middle of the sticker is 02 for the 2002
year, followed on the right by MN. The sticker
number ends with the license plate number which is
printed on the bottom of the sticker.
W Mim Rmm
Sergeant Goman Resigns from the
Police Reserve Unit
It is with a sense of a great loss that we have
accepted DJ Goman ’s resignation from the
Reserve. DJ 's resignation was effective on
November 30, 2001. DJ was with the reserve for 12
years. He served as a Reserve Officer, Corporal
and Sergeant. DJ was always there to help the
Reserve Coordinator fill assignments and help out
where ever he could. DJ has been hired as a Long
Lake Firefighter and we are sure he will be as much
of an asset to them as he was to us. DJ said in his
resignation letter that he will miss working with us
and we will sure miss him. Good luck on your job
with the fire department!!
Officer Schoenhoff New Reserve Coordinator
John Schoenhoff has taken over the position of
Reserve Liaison officer for the department on
January 01, 2002. The future goal for the Reserve
will be to try and strengthen our reserve manpower
by recruiting more people from our communities.
Our goal will be to try and attract community
members who are not necessarily law enforcement
students but have an interest in giving something
back to the community.
Coming Events
No Reserve Meeting in January
January 18 - Basketball
Orono vs Watertown
1930 Hours
January 29 - Basketball
Orono vs Benilde
1930 Hours
January 31 - Basketball
Orono vs Wayzata
1930 Hours
i jrir
A
